Spring suit from 1938 - free pattern

As I said in my previous post, at the local junk market I picked up a couple of magazines from 1938. They are typical women's magazines from the period: fashion, recipes, short stories, advice, beauty, sewing and knitting. Both copies have lovely knitting patterns in so I thought that it would be good to share them. This is the second pattern from March 1938.

  1. How lovely! I really like the fairly wide belt over the two knit pieces. It's a great visual counterpoint to all the wool at work in this classic 1930s outfit.

I hope that you're having a splendid week - big hugs!

*PS* I received both of your thoroughly thoughtful, lovely cards today, honey. Thank you very much! You are immensely welcome for the birthday gifts. I hope that they're bringing you oodles of joy!

    1. I think you are right about the belt. Worth remembering for other outfits.

  2. That's jolly pretty. I'm always tempted to knit a dress or suit, but i'd probably still be working on it when I turned 50...

  5. I've wanted a nice, long knitted skirt in green for ages - or a dress, if one's going. Would be so good for the autumn :)
